No shortage of participants, as Guy's is well represented in the regional events. Several team members race frequently and become strong contenders. The Verge Mid-Atlantic Cyclocross Series is one of the premier events in the US, given its UCI status. The PA Cyclocross Race Series was new in 2007 and Guy's Racing Club hosted the inaugural event: Whirlybird Cross. Being a huge success since, Whirlybird Cross is new on the MAC calender for 2010. Racers and spectators alike appreciated the classic venue in great weather with challenging competition at all skill levels from the beginner to elite. Thank you Bryn Athyn College for opening your grand facilities, on a classic course, on a historic property. Guy's Racing Club extends its gratitude to all who attend as a portion of the proceeds are donated to 'The Manning Children's Education Trust' - a college fund setup for the daughters of Joe Manning - a good friend and teammate - who lost his life during a mountain biking trip in Utah this summer. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds are donated to The Bryn Athyn College CARE special program campaign. On Saturday, October 25, Guy's Bicycles Racing, sponsored by Colonial Subaru/Volkswagen and Liberty Flooring, and with much gratitude Bryn Athyn College, hosted the 2nd annual "WhirlyBird" bike race, the fifth race in the 2008 Pennsylvania Cyclocross Series. Thanks to all one-hundred and sixty-four competitors from seven states (PA, NJ, DE, MD, NY, VA, CT) and the District of Columbia came to race. 
The rain kept the crowd of spectators small, but wet conditions doesn't stop cross racers. They loved the course-it was fairly challenging technically and had good 'flow.' Racers also appreciated the 1st class facilities-hot showers, modern locker rooms, and ample parking. Everyone was impressed with the rest of the campus as we heard a lot of comments about the campus' beauty. Thanks to all who helped host this fine event. Notable was Bryn Athyn College's CARE group who collected canned goods at the event as a part of "Trick-or-Charity," as generous racers filled three large boxes. Our Treat was when Ric Asplundh flew his Trick WhirlyBird over the race with Dylan Hendricks from the Academy's Development Office on board, taking HD video of the event. Dry summer conditions prevailed as the hard core came to race the site of the first autogiro aircraft flight in the United States, circa 1920s. Our host, Bryn Athyn College provided a beautiful country venue, ideal for cross and easily accessible. On September 26, over 250 cyclocross racers took flight around the beautiful grounds of Bryn Athyn College, home to the site of the first autogiro aircraft flight in the United States. The course was a fun challenging mix of fast turf, twists, loops, off camber, gravel, asphalt, barriers, dips and woops, run-ups, crop circle . . . everything that makes cyclocross racing so fanatical !
